LUCKY DENNY'S

Starting in mid 1990 or 1991, the cast would take over the back room (the bar, aka party room) at Lucky Denny's, thus named because there was a Lucky supermarket next door and the big bright sign was shared. Thankfully the shared sign did not say "Denny's Lucky", which would have been way less cool of a nickname, and which may have confused some people into hanging out at the supermarket instead, which, being closed, would have sucked for them.

Each cast member was allowed to bring one and only one guest to the hallowed back room, and vouch for them. The smokers would sit over on the left by the jukebox, the rest of us would sit on the other side, by the door, the only hope of anything resembling fresh air.

This mellow guy Cand was our waiter for quite some time; I don't remember any of the other waitrons' names. We'd stay in there til the sun came up, and the cast treasurer would calculate what everyone owed including tax and very heavy tip. Robert would stick quarters up his nose. SweetnLow fights were not uncommon.

Many of the regulars, nobody willing to vouch for them, or generally opposing the Lucky Denny's institution, continued to go to Norms on Pico for a while, but eventually everyone caved and Lucky Denny's was our happy stomping place until sometime in 1994, after the Great Walk-Out ridded us of Phil's evil abuse and amazing trailer collection (he was replaced by George and then Jim), and we were left with only The Living End trailer and the beloved Mouse Wreckers cartoon (our illegitimate print of which disappeared in the late '90s).

Anyway, the food kinda sucked, and by the mid 90s Rocky was in a downward spiral, on a skeleton crew cast and with small audiences and very few regulars, and everyone was kind of generally disenchanted.

I remember thinking it was pretty much the end when one night, the only people who went to any restaurant at all were myself and Djahari, sitting in the back room at Lucky Denny's, all by ourselves.
